cleaning mattress covers

I have a 1990 slide in camper I bought used. I was wondering how to clean the mattress cover and bench cover. They are zippered and I can pull the foam out, but the bottom of the cushion cover appears to be some sort of vinyl material and the top is upholstery fabric. I would think putting it in a wash machine might cracked the vinyl. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bruce

  • I cleaned all of the upholstery and cabover cushions on our 'new' 1994 class C with the handheld upholstery attachment of a carpet cleaner. I'm very pleased with how it turned out!
  • Be careful removing the covers. Sometimes, if you remove the covers they never fit on right again. I would not try to wash them. The upholstery may have a backing that could be deteriorating. You may have to have new ones made.
  • I have had my covers dry cleaned but not all dry cleaners can handle that specific job. You will need to call around in your area to find out which one has the process for the different material mix. We had the dinette bench covers and back pieces dry cleaned on our previous travel trailer and it cost $60 for the 4 pieces.
