Cleaning the awning, bubbles appearing

First time since new (five years) and Tilex worked like a charm. It was pretty bad up near the trailer. I left it on for a few minutes then hit it lightly with my long, soft brush and 99% of it washed right off. I did, however notice several bubbles all across the material, so it appears it's beginning to delaminate. From experience, how long til I have to replace it when that starts?

  • Mike was your awning repaired local as in Sequin?
    Thanks
  • I'm betting that the part that is starting to show age is the part left exposed to the elements when retracted. That's only about 2 or 3 ft of the entire awning. We had that happen too and rather than replace the whole thing, we just had that part replaced at a place that makes awnings near us. It looks great, works well and was much much cheaper.
  • Depends on how bad it already is… you will most likely get a couple years more… the vinyl is so thin and it gets brittle…
They use to vulcanize them and they lasted much longer… I have some with beginning delamination in the first year with the newer fabrics…
