Hello Terry
My family and I are enjoying our first season in a Coachmen Clipper. Ours is the 17BH and we tow it with our Grand Cherokee. We're having a blast and really enjoying the trailer without any major complaints. We're actually loading it up right now for another trip into the Rockies this weekend.
The quality seems to be on par with other TTs out there. Not amazing but certainly sufficient considering the lower price point of the Clippers.
There is a Forest River Coachmen forum but it is not specific to the Clipper line as far as I remember. I'm pretty sure there are at least a couple other Clipper owners on this forum too.
Enjoy your trip and let us know how you like your new trailer.
Brett
Hi Brett,
We sold our Casita in March and about a month ago got the urge to buy another small camper. We were looking for something a little larger than the Casita, one that we could leave the bed made during the day, ample room for two adults to move around in, a decent bathroom, and larger holding tanks (were were used to 15 & 10 gal). And we were also looking for a brand new TT at a price that fitted our fixed income budget. After searching the internet and viewing and reviewing many different TTs, we decided on the the Clipper 17FQ. It has everything we wanted and my tow vehicle will have not trouble pulling it.
This TT is around 400 lbs more than our Casita 17 dry, and we hardly knew we were pulling a camper. Ours is a 2006 Toyota Highlander, rated at 3500lbs with a heavy duty transmission cooler installed. Yeah, its on the edge of being too small, but I trust the vehicle, I keep the speed down, and it's paid for.
Enjoy your trip to the Rockies. While we are purchasing the 17FQ today, we probably won't be taking delivery on it until Mon. or Tues.
