- campiglooExplorerThere are only two mods that I would recommend for that truck. The first is a turbo saver. When you turn the engine off it will continue idling until EGT reaches 400. Really nice addition. The other????
Delete. - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorerEvery GM truck with a diesel in it since the 6.2 diesel has had a CAI in it from the factory.
I haven't seen all other years and makes but I would imagine it would be the same. - S_DavisExplorer

Agreed for raw horsepower. But. Does it help EGTs run cooler when pulling?
The truck is only going to pull the air it needs for the fuel burned, so if the intake can handle more than you are asking of it already making it less restrictive will gain you nothing. Now if you can get cooler intake air that can help, but then you are looking at bigger more efficient inter cooler or pulling intake air from a cooler location. - BenKExplorerThere are different requirements or best tuned intake needs between a gasser vs diesel
Diesel has no throttle, so it needs to have as open as possible...whereas with a
gasser and a throttled intake, it needs are way different during low rev's or
power situations
So, not comparing apples to apples between a gasser's intake needs vs a diesel's
Keeping the intake as cool as possible, with-in it's spec temp range is always
best....they why of an inter-cooler exists for forced fed...even diesel*ANY*
intake system that ingests engine bay air is not worth
the money or time. Reference above about getting the coldest air
Been there done that during my 20's trying most all available low restriction
intake air filters. Good old OEM for me and if available, get the HD versions
From my 64' MGB's side draft Webbers w/o any filters to my Dune Buggy w/o filter.
Not worth the engine rebuilds that caused or contributed to...
Some OEM are not good enough, but that is on a individual basis, IMHO. As stated
above, today's OEM's do a pretty good job of it and as much as folks complain
about CAFE/EPA/etc requirements...they all also improve the breathing (in and out)
of our vehicles today
There are none that I liked and made my own...just because I wanted to... - 2001400exExplorer

- bob213ExplorerActually the K&N lets oil get on the MAF sensor and fouls it on a diesel. Getting benefits from changing to a CAI requires alot of money to be spent downstream from the intake to get any real benefits. A "good" tune from a reputable tuner(not out of the box) is a consideration but after trying it all my recommendation is to save your money for fuel.
- goducks10ExplorerI have a 12 Ram 2500 CTD and I don't think I'd even notice another 10-15HP. The trucks got way more than I need already.

Spend your money on something else. The factory intake does an excellent job.
After markets are mostly hype.
Money better spent somewhere else. The factory intake is good to 450-500 hp. Don't use a K&N filter in a diesel, or anything else for that matter, not worth the price. They don't filter well enough and the turbo will suck the oil into it. Not good. Use a deep 4" Wix filter and save your money on the intake and spend it somewhere else that will actually improve performance and fuel mileage. Just my experience after having 3 Cummins trucks.
