Coleman AC?

A friend of mine is wanting to replace his AC with the small Coleman so he can run the air on a Honda 2000. My question is will it fit the factory hole without a bunch of mods? Thanks....DJ

  • installed a 9200 coleman yesterday on my 08 Northstar. Thought it was prewired, after cutting the 14X14 hole in the roof discovered an empty 1/2 inch plastic tube running towards the drivers side in the approximatley 1 inch thick styroform ceiling. Took me about 2 hrs to get the 12 gauge electrical wire snaked down to the converter. The install went very well after the wiring was completed. Ordered a westinghouse WH2400 generator from Amazon this morning. Reviews of it indicated it should run the coleman. I wonder about the life span of that generator, time will tell.
  • I replaced my AC and it literally took less than an hour. And it runs easily with my Honda 2000. Mine us a Polar Cub. 9200 BTU.

    How old is your AC?
  • I have the Coleman Mach 8 and a Honda EU2000. I've had issues a couple times starting it on the Honda. I had to turn off the converter and run the fridge on gas.

There's another one he should look at that I believe is lower amps even though it isn't as low of profile. I believe it's 11K btu, can't remember who makes it though, hopefully someone else remembers.

  • I just recently installed a Coleman Mach 8 Cub on the camper. It replaced the standard 14" square vent.
It is my understanding that all rooftop A/C units simply fit a 14" square hole.
So I would think that taking out a big one and replacing it with the Cub should be no problem, other than getting one onto the roof and the other one down.
  • To my knowledge they all use the standard 14" hole. Assuming this is roof mounted. Inside panel likely different, as far as covering impression or discoloration of old one.
  • Any more details? What's the model in place now, what's the model being considered?
