coleman water tank

I recently acquired a 1988 Coleman Newport (or maybe Columbia-not certain). The water tank is missing and the owner's manual has no detailed information about it. If anyone with a similar model can send me details or pictures showing dimensions, fitting configuration, etc., it would help. If there is a source for more technical specs than shown in the owner's manuals, that would be very helpful. Thanks.

  • That's basically what the trailer has. It's about a five gallon jug with a special cap that hooks to the sink hose.
  • If it doesn't work out for you, I've seen many smaller tent trailers that use just a 7 gallon aquatainer that can be put in a cabinet, and refilled pretty easily at a local faucet.

They've gotten real expensive over the years for really no reason though. I've bought all 4 of mine for under $10 each from Walmart in the mid 2000s.

    A bit more reasonable.
  • The next time I have my camper out (hopefully sometime in January) I'll try to remember to measure the water tank for you. It's not very big, it only holds about 5 gallons of water.
  • Thanks, opnspaces, I did figure out that mine is a Columbia, although it has a two piece rear bed that folds back on itself. Since mine is an 88, that may account for the different configuration.

According to my 1986 manual only the Columbia and Royale have a rear bed that is three pieces. Two cushions come apart from the bed and store under the dinette when folded. So I'm guessing that if you don't have the three piece rear bed then it's a Newport.

Also the closed length of the Columbia is 11' 3" and the closed length of the Newport is 12' 11".
  • You can measure avalable space. Then start checking wrecking yards. I would bet that FW tank is not specific to that unt.
