About 550 is a long day for us. We may have 2-3 of those type days on a 2+ week trip. 300-350 is a much nicer day and leaves some time for stopping places to see along the way. Take whatever google says it will take you, add 2 hours, and we try to keep our day to 9-11 hrs, 12 absolute max. On a 12 hr day, hopefully a lot of that is stopping to enjoy some stuff.
For instance, last summer we went from the KOA in Kennebec, South Dakota to Walmart in Waseca, MN during one day. It was about 335 miles, 11 hrs, but we say all the Little House on the Prarie stuff you could see in DeSmet SD (lots) as well as a couple of stops in Walnut Grove MN as well. We would have gone farther but decided to stop at the Walmart where we did due to bad weather and high winds. Our longest day was from St. Paul MN to Theodore Rosevelt NP in ND and it was 568 mi and 11h 53m of driving. A long day and nothing but star gazing at the destination for fun along the way. We did visit with relatives that we don't see enough in St. Paul for most of the morning before we left. However, we were trying to make up time and get where we wanted to go. We call that type of traveling an adventure rather than a vacation. We usually have a few vacations in the summer as well where we drive within the state, camp by the lake, and just relax. Our 2500 Suburban pulls the trailer very nicely with our Reese Dual Cam hitch and it makes for fairly relaxed towing.
