Compartment Replacement Locks

Anyone ever replace all the compartment locks? I've been looking at the Combi Cam combination lock on Amazon. Any pros or cons ?
I know the compartments can be easily broken into no matter what lock is on it. Just worried about the standard lock that has the same key on all campers at out seasonal site. At least if it's forced I know if someone was in the compartment.
Thanks for any input

  • We got replacement (keyed alike) locks from the local locksmith shop. $6 for each including the outdoor shower ;-)

Search for cam locks, there are companies that can provide you with your exact needs. I changed all of mine, including the shower, with keyed type locks.

I didn't use the Combi locks because one was behind the gas bottles and the shower was on the rear next to the garage wall. I can't see the locks straight on so the keyed type worked best for me.
  • We keyed all alike including the entry door. As far as the outdoor shower I just modified a catch to make it work.
  • Mike,

Not sure which trailer your looking to replace the cam locks on, but if you have a Global Key (your Jayco should have if its like our 32) you can order new cams that match the door key from WWW.RVLOCKSANDMORE.Com. You just need to measure the stock cam length to be sure you order the correct replacement cams.

I re-keyed all our locks to match the outdoor kitchen as that was the easiest way. Only lock I didn't change is the outdoor shower because they didn't have a new cam short enough for the outdoor shower.

    Good luck!
  • It is true that they are easy to break into but if you want a bit more security with keys that are not like all the others you might try Locks like these
  • Shhh, don't tell anyone they have the same key. Oops.

But yes, buy the better locks. Why make it easy?
