At a minimum you will want an electric hook up at the marina. Keeping warm in the winter is the biggest downside to fulltiming in cold weather, which is why most full timers are retired and head south in the winter. You'll want some kind of small elec space heater to keep propane costs down.
Also TCs have small holding tanks. Black tank (toilet) probably OK for one person for a few days, but the gray tank (sink & shower) and the fresh water tank can be limiting for showering and shaving etc. Sounds like you might be FDNY, in that case you can clean up at work.
If you really want to save $$, ditch the commuter car and the insurance costs and use bus/subway to work when you're in town. As far as dating, the TC will be a great filter, because any chick that doesn't want to hang out in your TC you won't want to spend time with anyway....
You might also look for space on LI or in northern NJ...I'm way out in Islip but less than 1 mile walk to LIRR.
