I never trust phone reservations, I like to do it online, then I'm the only one that can type in the wrong date etc. When you do it over the phone, you may have confirmation that you paid, but not what dates you paid for. What can they do if you get there and they are full??
When ever I've made phone reservations, the person on the phone is in the office, and you can here other stuff going on, normally they stop partway through and help someone in the office.
We go to a campground once a year for a week, and they only do phone reservations, and don't send email confirmations. I'm always nervous that I'm going to get there and the reservation is for a different date, so I always call about a week ahead and verify.
