I'm with the OP. If I call and make a reservation, and they're supposed to email me a confirmation, I expect to get that email. If I get there and there's problems, telling them about a phone call gets me nowhere. If I have it in writing, they will be obliged to make things right. When I've been in the same boat, I make a pain of myself and usually send them an email while I'm on the phone with them so they do in fact have my correct address.
