Hi Santa Fe, we are new to the HTT's ourselves after stepping up from the popup ourselves for pretty much the same reason. We sold our '88 Coleman and happened on a great deal on a Thor Wanderer Lite. It's apparently not real popular and Thor of California doesn't exist any longer but that doesn't bother us. The additional comfort features are great, you'll be happy upgrading.
I don't have any suggestions for you but as a 4Runner owner I wanted to assure you that your truck can hadle any HTT easily since you have the V8 as I do. My HTT hauls easily behind my 2005 and I'm sure you'll find the same with yours. Good luck in your search, take care of that V8 4Runner, they're great TV's!
