My daily driver is a diesel pickup. It works just fine, zero issues.
I don’t understand the logic of being upset over 10% higher fuel cost but being OK with more than 10% worse MPG with a gas truck.
I’m not necessarily arguing against the gas truck... I own one of each myself... but there’s some silly logic going on.
The gas engines have enough power to get there. Back in the early 90s and prior, the big-block gas trucks were the most powerful option we had, and they didn’t make as much power (when stock) as the new ones do.
For hauling a camper, either is fine. Diesels are just more fun because they make twice the torque.
