The gas engines have enough power to get there. Back in the early 90s and prior, the big-block gas trucks were the most powerful option we had, and they didn’t make as much power (when stock) as the new ones do
They did and I owned them all as well as the anemic diesels of the day.I lived in McCall Idaho for like 40 years working and it was just common for it to get to -20 to -40 below with snow up to the roof where it would not slide off...Diesels were nothing but a problem compared to gas..One time it took me two days to get my 6.2(diesel) pickup to run and that was with #1 stove oil/diesel and a block heater..
My job was working with diesel equipment/trucks and even work pickups with the diesel engine,sometimes...I have seen the worst and would never go there again..
I realize that almost 100% of the people on this forum will never see what I saw or experience it because they do not use there pickups like some do..
I have no need for speed and I am never in a hurry to get anywhere..I would be totally happy pulling up behind a logging truck/gearing down and enjoy the scenery and relax
