For me when I bought our Ram 5.9 Cummins, there was no such thing as DEF, EGR, DPF etc. If there had been I would have been happy with a gas engine. My buddy has a 2012 F-250 with 6.2 gas and he has never had a hic cup with it. It has been out to the west coast of Canada twice and it averaged 11 US mpg hauling an Adventurer 8.6 SBS. I'd take that any day. If and when our '03 Ram has to be replaced, I will go gas. The newer diesels have too many emissions, surprised they can run at all. Glad I have an older version for sure. IMHO if your diesel is paid for then keep it. If buying new again go gas.
