Hmm, I firmly moved into the diesel camp after renting an E350 based 25 foot class C motorhome and driving various Sierra highways in California.
I backed off the speed on highway 80 around Truckee because I just felt sorry for the V8 engine (331HP and 356 torque) and just limited myself to 4k rpm. Even then, I did not care for it. I'm used to Honda S2000 that sounds so much more at ease at 8k rpm than this motor does at 4k!
Next issue was, yeah, try to go slow and negotiate the loaded trucks at 40mph and the unloaded ones than will run you over (I did say California)
The motorhome probably weighs 1,000 or so less than a 1 ton truck with the camper I want, and the engine is a bit detuned from the V8 truck engine.
Downhill, same thing, didn't care for that RPM needed to use tow/haul mode.
Just a personal choice based on one's priorities.
