This is the pickup camper forum and no mention of towing anything else.
The 6.2l is overkill in all honesty. You could retrofit a 20yr old 5.0l and have enough power.
That said there are some minor trade offs:
- Cost is probably in favor of gas unless you do a lot miles per year. If you run the carney circuit putting on 50k per year, diesel might pay for itself.
- Climbing steep grades, you will have to listen to the engine rev a bit (no harm) but really, with 385hp, you are so overpowered, it can probably hold OD on all but the steepest grades.
- You will lose HP at altitude since there is no turbo but again, you start with so much more HP than you need, that it shouldn't be an issue.
- Downhill, you do lose the exhaust break... not a deal breaker but if you spend a lot of time in the mountains, it's nice to have.
