I pretty much ignore Consumer Reports for the most part, but I did look at a new GMC .5 ton this weekend, and I was pretty impressed.
The one thing that Consumer Reports won't report is the small ripples that would form in the sheet metal on GM's previous gen trucks, and even though this doesn't affect reliability; it just looks bad. The new gen trucks sheet metal seamed very sturdy mainly due to all the body creases which should resolve the sheet metal rippling effect.
Overall I got to say GMC has a really nice truck.
