Just looked at mine.
No locking tabs. Just a hanging flap visible from inside under the hood, and it's part of the hood.
When the fan goes on, the flap opens and all the gunk blows out. When the flap goes off the flap closes. Can't tell if it's gravity operated or maybe a spring is invovlved.
