Cooking Stove stopped in cold weather

My son is off grid, in northeren WA. The past few days has been pretty chilly. He has a wood heat and uses propane to cook with recently has a frozen tank, by that it has Ice all over it, and a copper line into the house, Does propane frezze that much? I have been in -15 with the trailer but no problems.
Any one that has had a situ?
I would suspect a pluged orfice?

Thanks
Chuck

    Wrap regulator with a blanket.

    x2.

The reg. can freeze up and gas flow stops, I have a hair dryer to thaw mine. Since I now wrap it, never had it freeze again . I use my rig down -30F no more freeze ups.
  • I had a problem with the regulator freezing up on my house due to water in a newly delivered propane tank. The propane company solved the problem by putting a small amount of alcohol in the tank. It absorbed the water and burned through the furnace with no problem.
  • The controls at the stove can fill with condensation as well. During very cold temps I've found it beneficial that when swapping tanks, open the valve very slowly. Opening the valve quickly seems to create frost in the lines and fittings.
