Generally coolant level when cold should be mid to low in the bottle. Could rise a bit when running hard.
But you said it started at the very top which seems overfilled and thus some was expelled when running hard.
Just stop adding coolant until the level is below the minimum mark when cold.
A picture when cold that shows the level along with the maximum and minimum mark would help.
