I'm down to these two LT 245/75/R16s for my 5er. They are both the same on-line price. Discount recommends the Discoverer HT (and Cooper approves them for trailers) mainly cuz they don't stock the HT3. I would rather go one-better by going to the all steel HT3. I haven't been able to find out if the TransForce HT is all steel or not. Anyone know? If one is all steel and the other one isn't and they are the same price, I'd rather have all steel. Also, does anyone know which brand has the longest lasting rubber... sidewall cracking? TIA! Craig

I think I would go with the Cooper. I've heard good things, and I just had a set of Firestone wear out to early, just running on Jeep Liberty.

I have run both, I would go with the Coopers.

Cooper commercial grade SRM II were dropped so I emailed Cooper to see which LT tire they recommended for my tri axle trailer with 5.2k axles Their reply; Email to to Cooper Tire;I used several sets of SRM II LT235/85-16 E on my trailers after Cooper tech folks recommended them with great success. One triaxle trailer is due for new tires before winter but I don't see the the SRM II on your web. IF you look at the Ram /Cummins forum ,there are a lot of complaints re premature wear on the new rams with the firstone tire.

Yes, but take note of which truck and which Firestone tire is receiving the complaints........ I don't see many if any complaints on the TransForce LT tire.

I have Transforce II LT tires on my 2013 Ram 3500. I have about 12000 miles o the truck and the tires are about 1/2 gone....so maybe going to get 25000 miles out of them. Not too good for wear and the traction isn't very good either. So I would say buy anything else.

The OP wants tires for his trailer so traction or wear issues as a truck needs isn't much of a concern.

I put TransForce HT's on my 5th wheel, love them except for concrete grooved roads. Makes a heck of a racket on those but I see nothing wrong with them. Ran cool, 114F in the shade, 119F in the sun and this was 95 degree air temperature plus they track well and no wandering. Premature wear, don't really care. I will probably have to replace them from age well before they wear out.
