OMG....after spending the better part of a day looking at several brands by several different manufacturers, it is a sad state of affairs that they let a lot of these trailers roll off the production line with absolutely no quality control.
Even among the various brands within group (Forest River) the fit and finish varied GREATLY....and most of them looked like crapola. Trim pieces coming loose from the walls, doors not aligning, cabinet doors that don't shut properly, missed screw holes, loose screws just laying on the floor and on and on and on. The dealers should also be ashamed of themselves for allowing this kind of shoddy work to remain on their lots without being fixed.
It is abundantly clear that most, if not all, take absolutely no pride in what they produce and until we as consumers stop buying the substandard and inferior dribble that they make and demand a better product, nothing will get better.
Several brands/models that I was hoping to see good things from based on what I have read hear on this form were some of the worst finished products and in the back of my mind, if they do that poor of a job on what the consumers see, how bad is it on the hidden stuff that we dont? (Evergreen RV..Everlite, I-Go, Ascend & Sun Valley) all of the F.R. Cherokee models were junk as was most of the Forest River offerings, Shasta, and countless others that made no lasting impression.
Out of all that we looked at, the FR Vibe Extreme Light, FR Wildwood Heritage Glen Light, FR Rockwood Signature Ultra Light and Gulf Stream seemed to have the best fit and finish.
And don't even get me started on how narrow some of the beds are in what they are trying to pass off as bunk-bed models. Maybe I have unrealistic expectations, but if I could get my wife to buy into the idea, I'd get a horse trailer and throw in a couple of air mattresses.
