Interesting question and some thoughts. What will all rv's do over time? LEAK. What rots over time? WOOD. What RV mfg uses no wood? Not many, Camplite is all I can find. Possibly the all fiberglass egg mfg like Casita.Even airstream has wood laced throughout the coach including the floor. If the factor of longevity and quality are to be considered, then I would submit build them like a car, truck etc. No wood, anywhere. With that being said, then weight and quality are in combination. Our 21 weight around 3500 lb. Cost is then a factor, I just found out Livin Lite gave up on fivers. Cant be competitive with all aluminum construction,thats why our custom 21 RBS is around 30k.
Coming home from Texas in a rain storm from hell. Pulled into a truck stop alongside 3 high end motor homes with slides out. Unusual? Asked some questions and all of the slides were leaking. Carpet soaked and some water was sloshing around the entire bus. Checked my slide, yep it was leaking, from the bottom of the slide and on a all aluminum floor. think about it...
