Counter space or sinks?

remind me why we need 2 bowl sinks?
we have these mats you lay on counter top for wet dishes.
and its not like I am cooking for profit where Board of Health sets the requirements (oh, that's right, they want 3 sinks)

Northstar did a great job on mine. The second sink does not take up useable counter space because it is perpendicular to the counter. The back sink is really useful. The front is for washing and the back holds the drying rack.

The counter space is between the stove and the two sinks. Somehow designers seem to believe you can get by with a cover on the sinks that substitutes for a countertop. No way.

My guess is that you "1-sinkers" are in the minority. Most RV buyers are basing their opinions of RVs on what they have at home.

Agree but in our case generally we don't cook & wash like at home, few utensils cups, small pans. I remember Margaret being impressed with the sinks when we first looked at our camper- but if I told her I could get rid of the left bowl for that much more counter-space she'd probably pick up materials.
Small camper, its a lot of compromises- my opinion also is Id rather give up the convenience of the second bowl for more counter space. But if I had my rathers it would be a 3bowl with small center that had disposer.

I cook in the RV same as at home, so 2 sinks is a must. Ours is in a peninsula with adequate counter space. I agree that a 2 burner stove would be fine, as long as the additional space was provided, and not a smaller stove. (I use the oven).

The picture isn't great, but this is actually loaded with dishes. It also shows our counter in use with also an electric heater on the counter. It has more depth than many because it is in a slide.

We just bought a single larger sink to replace the original twin mini-sinks ... those standard double sinks in RV are way too small ... SO, we use a small dish tub on the counter then stack rinse into the single sink. Takes minutes ...

We both cook, and we don't do elaborate meals, but it sure doesn't take a double sink to wash and rinse a couple dishes and pots. AND, you can't fit anything is each side in those doubles. We can fit a full frying pan in our single stainless ... 13"x18" - 9" deep.

Matter of fact, we just renovated our kitchen in our home and put a single farmer's sink instead of dual stainless. Would not go back to dual sink for any reason ...

DW is the opposite. I guess that's why RVs have both types. ;)
