Counter weight for added back storage area/deck

We recently purchased this travel trailer, that had this back storage area on it. We use it to carry firewood and misc things.. My husband was changing the tires and laying underneath the trailer ...

you could replace it with a new fresh water tank maybe - that would be both heavy and useful, if you do any boondocking...or decide to lose the box altogether as a failed engineering attempt by the previous owner.
