  • Lucky for me I don't have to get another truck for a while. Another good thing on my side is I am not afraid to void the useless warranty that I have never needed in any of my Cummins trucks by replacing the CP4.2 with an old CP3 if that time comes. Most mods I do increase reliability by removing things that are prone to fail and/or decrease engine longevity.

So glad GM woke up and switched back to the CP3. If Ford would do this I might buy an F450.

GM did not go back to the CP3. They could make the power numbers they do and be emissions legal with a CP3. They went with a Denso HP4.

Good info for the "F" guys!

Also good info for the RAM guys because it shows there was an inssue 14 and prior but from everything i have NOT heard the 15 and newer pumps are not having nearly as many issues.

The CP4.2 is still very sensitive to fuel contamination and aeration no matter how you spin it.

A lot cheaper than the reengineering required for previous Ford Diesels - the 6.0 and 6.4.

New Ram 6.7 cummins meet the CP4.2.... CP4.2 meet the new Ram 6.7 cummins...

We knew the day was coming... LOL

For $360 it seems like a good insurance policy. Hopefully they'll make a version for the new Rams too.

Good idea. If I had one of these trucks I would install it. Just a couple years too late for ricatic. It was tough to read his story.

    Take it easy,

It seems like such an easy, obvious, common sense fix. No wonder those guys “used to” work for Bosch. How many years and unhappy customers later and Bosch couldn’t seem to make this change?
