It will be interesting to see where this goes.As far as I can tell the Cummins in my Freightliner motorhome is not on the list of affected engines so hopefully I don't need to worry about it.

The problem with these class action suits is that the lawyers get tens of millions, the ONE client in who's name the suit was filed gets thousands, and everyone else gets a free small drink at Jack-in-the-Box.

Claiming manufacturers "always deny warranty coverage", and that by 100,000 miles "all truck owners see the costly results".I'm guessing there are more than a few 2012 vehicles out there with a quarter million miles that still have the original pump. I know that at least the early cp4 pumps were delicate, especially when water was introduced to the fuel system, and that's when I remember the manufacturers being a little finicky about replacement.Not defending Bosch or their cp4 pump, but here we go again with lawyers driving up the cost of the products we buy.

Yeah I just hit 110K w/o a problem. The level of complaints certainly seems to have decreased over a few years ago. Maybe the service depts are dealing with problems without trying to screw the owners like Ford especially was doing.

Well, that leaves Ford for the big diesels, and most all the 1/2 ton sized diesels using the CP-4 or variants.

GM dumped the CP-4 in the Duramax engines for the Denso HP4 fuel pump, think in the 2017 models.

May be GM's dumping of the CP-4 says it all here.

Yeah, our risk is having exhaust manifold problems from heat expansion contraction issues and broken bolts. 26,000 pounds gaining speed up hill. :)

Class action lawsuits aren't as much about making those who were wronged right again. They're more about levying a "fine" against the company who caused the problem and to that end we all benefit a little if the company cleans up their act. That said I don't know how much the lawsuit helps versus maintaining a good reputation with their customers.

That is the worst part, the lawyers generally end up with most of the money and it has to come from somewhere. The consumers, employees and investors are about to get the shaft and none of them had any say in this decision.

It does seem that the issue mostly went away after just a year or two.

Well covered on this forum years ago...heated and opinionated...

Got a few tossed off this forum...several threads got closed...

Am a gasoline guy and never really paid much attention to diesel. A short investigation into the 7.3L around 1999, but ancillary research showed the SMOG freight train coming down to make diesel's overly complex for me (knowing how complex gas was and the horrible 1980's for gassers)...passed on diesel
