Cracked water heater tank

Yup, I did it. I left the tank full over the winter and it cracked. I have the whole unit out, found the crack, found a replacement tank, but I can't find anything that shows how to replace it myself. Is it possible? Everything I found says that the labor costs involved in changing it make it cheaper to just buy a whole new unit. Anyone have any tips on this? Thanks.

  • Should be a simple remove and replace process. remove part A and install it on the new tank. Done deal. If you can't take a few digital pictures and do the job, then you will be better off buying a complete assembly.

If you were able to take the tank out, what's your concern about putting the replacement in? Not sure I'm following here.

I wonder if he just has the tank and none of the controls that are mounted on it. ?
