SteveAE,
Also sorry to miss you guys by a day when you were on your backpack trip. Maybe we can connect in Bend, BC, or on the Colorado Plateau. Play safe on the water.
rexlion,
The Buckskin/Paria slot canyon is mostly downhill. How tough can that be? Easy, peasy. And the walking is mostly in nice, soft sand.
cewillis,
To do the hiking vertical that we are accustomed to, you have to be light hearted and light headed. When you don't have much grey matter left upstairs, time flys, so that 7 hour grind up the New Hance trail in the GC, poof, one minute you are breaking camp below the Papago cliffs, next moment drinking ice cold beer from the TC fridge at the trailhead. You do a lot a vertical yourself. You must be light headed too.
sabconsulting,
It's just nice to get out and visit new places all the time. It must be fun to plan your trips whether around England, the continent(nice recent TR) or the true North African desert.
terryrey,
How are ya? Any more renos on the Outfitter. When you've finished your list give me a call. I can keep you busy for a month. Extreme bikers no. Just when we think we are doing well on some gnarly trails, some young guys, kick us aside and show what real riders can do.
profdan139,
How's that northern trip planning coming along? Love those nighttime star shots. Can never seem to capture the same crisp images with my disposable camera as you. I think I gave some people the wrong information. My real age is 39, my IQ however, that is 65.
bka0721,
Even though you"ve quit doing TR, your info on extreme Boondocking is great. One of these days, we will run into ya and I will try a pry out of you some of your special camping and rec sites.
silversands,
One nice thing about Utah, you can always get rehydrated after a long sweaty hike or bike ride by the low alcohol "church beer". You will have to come on down to the Colorado Plateau and stick your nose into the cracks and canyons. Fun times.
Whazoo,
When we were camped at Lone Rock, the gust were 50 mph. I can just see you up that high over Lone Rock if the winds were just the usual strong ones that we see every time we stop at Lake Powell. In my other life, crosscheck is my secret agent name and I work closely with the CIA. One day I asked them to do me a favorite. No probemo Mr Crosscheck. There is a guy who goes to magical places when he is out camping and I would like to find out where those places are. Can you get a GPS tracking device in his truck? Yes sir they said. So now when out in desert country I can follow in the footsteps of the legend. Whazoo, I hope that all of that aching muscle and gristle held together with barb wire will take you to the magical places that your heart yearns, for many a year yet. Some of us may just be a canyon behind.
