Crossroads Zinger ZT31SB or ZT33BH... any opinions?

We are considering both the ZT31SB and the ZT33BH from Crossroads. The layouts are fairly different, and there are pros and cons to each model.

Has anyone had either of these, specifically the 33BH, since it has such a different layout (kitchen island, for one thing, 3 slides for another), and would have any input for us?

Thanks!

For those of you who would like more detail, here are the advantages as I see them of the 31' over the 33':
-table seating is U-shaped - therefore more elbow room
-grill provided on back bumper (but then can we install our bike rack?)
-slightly more outside/underneath storage, accessible from both sides (the 33' is accessible from only 1 side and doesn't go all the way through as the hot water heater is on the driver side - not sure I could reach everything)
-for some reason, seems "homier" inside
-$2,000 cheaper.

My view of advantages of the 33' over the 31':
-bathroom located by master bedroom with entry from there - handy for middle of the night
-kitchen storage - seems to be better and more storage in the kitchen
-table is sturdier (but seating on just 2 sides, less elbow room)
-island with sink and counter space and storage space seems really handy
-shower is hard doors i.e. shower curtain won't keep touching you, seems roomier, although I haven't had this kind of shower yet
-80 gal grey water tank (twice the size of the 31')

Forgot to check:
-is one cupboard over the couch deeper than the other - it almost seemed like it as I think back
-were the stoves fairly equal

Thanks!

The 33 is not really usable with the slides in. No bathroom, no pantry, maybe fridge. That's a big negative to me as we often jump in for bathroom break or grab some food while traveling.

Good point, thanks! It is finding out things like this that are the benefit of asking other people.
  • We installed a tv with DVD in it. As I sit here typing, I'm sitting in my tt for the first time this season. We are watching tv. Dd and u are at dinette and dh is on the sofa. Nit the most comfy but not the worst thing either. It works for three not much more.
  • I have a Crossroads ST29SS and also had a hard time choosing between models. Just my personal opinion but I thought the U-Shaped table was the way to go and liked the look until we we all sat in it and found we had less leg room.
  • We have the Zinger ZT 33BH and it is a 2014. DH has pulled it from northwest Ohio to Camden ME so far. WE LOVE IT!!!! We have 2 kids and 2 dogs and there is enough room for sleeping and getting around (for a camper). We even had to dress up and prepare for a semi formal wedding of a family member. People could not believe that I could do my hair, makeup, and dress in our camper. I love the kitchen island, LOTS of storage. Last night we had 15 people to our campsite for a dinner and I had plenty of room to prepare food because of the counter space on the kitchen island. We have our coffee pot on the counter next to the stove. We got the table and chairs instead of the booth dinette. The U shaped dinettes are hard to get all the way to the back, unless you have small kids, the booth on this model seemed a little narrow, so we did the chairs. The only down side is the loss of storage under the benches, but we are making changes to storage. There is also storage under the oven and the refrigerator, plus the outside kitchen.

We experienced the same thing, as the salesman told us would be the case.
  • We have camped twice so far in ours. Hubby is already considering trading it off. He is concerned about the number of "little things" which seem low quality - trim that wasn't nailed down, drawer catches that weren't installed, a furnace that mostly only heats up the back bunkhouse, the back slide mangled the back curtain rod somehow, we have trouble lighting the oven pilot light, the jack bottom rotated as we cranked so they replaced that...

We did have the frosted glass in the entry door replaced with clear glass so that we can see our own campsite without going to the bedroom window or climbing up on the bunk in the bunkhouse. I can post after we camp next how that works out. We then bought a heat cover that velcros to cover the window for privacy. The problem is that with the screen door next to the inside of the door it won't be very simple to decide to either cover or uncover the window in the door - no lifting up the cover to peek out without first opening the door and pulling the screen door away.

Still loving the layout and the open, roomy feel, and the massive quantities of inside storage - which we have nowhere near full anywhere.

The couch with the big pillowy-type armrests, though, isn't the most comfortable couch and the armrests make it harder to lie down on.

We once had a Durango. Within days after getting it, my husband was driving through dealer lots to see what else was available, and within 10 months we switched vehicles. I have a feeling this camper isn't going to last very long, either.

That is not to say that we don't like it, we are very comfortable in it. He is just concerned with lack of quality and if everything isn't going to hold up well, he wants to get rid of it before things start going bad and it goes out of warranty.
  • I still want to know which manager thought it was a good idea to name a TT a ZINGER. I thought my TT name Bullet is politically incorrect, but Zinger just seems to give me the impression of something that was cobbled together and will be a lemon. :)
