Just bought a 2015 280QBS. LOVE IT!!
Been reading about previous years having axle problems. I see lots of threads about people complaining they have the "dreaded" problem, but i've yet to read a thread where the problem is explained. What, specifically, is the problem?
Reason i ask - There is a wheel on one side that doesn't seem to be aimed straight. it almost looks like its aimed inwards. I'm curious if thats related to the problem or not. Regardless, i'll need to get it in to get it looked at.
Thoughts?
Lippert abviously knows that there are alignment problems with RV axles, becasue they have created a kit to provide adjustment to the tow. I saw this kit installed on a camper on the old Speed Channels Two Guys Garage, they demonstrated how a laser is used to adjust the axles. http://lippertcomponents.com/correct-track-ii click the aftermarket tab.
In my case the problem is tow not camber, so this would allow for adjustment of the axles to bring the tow back in line.
The bending of the axles to align is only going to last until that first road hazard that you hit and then you start all over again.
It really is a pity that in the manufacturing process they don't put something better than bare bones into the suspension. I would rather spend a few hundred dollars for a supension upgrade and less on the glitz and glamour. But suspensions don't sell RVs.
The correct track will not fix a toe problem with a straight axel. The only problem the correct track will fix is thrust angle.
The only way to fix a toe problem with a straight axel is bending.
