If your biggest issue is how to carry kayaks and bikes, then why go to another truck? Just get some carriers for the kayaks and bikes. Another 'con' on your list for the 6.4 is resale. Most people want the diesel not the gasser. While you think the dealer is going to get you a straight across trade you actually will lose money when you want to sell or trade in the 6.4 compared to what you would get with the Cummins. Of course, you will have to wait until you sell or trade to actually lose that money but you will still lose it. The diesels hold the value better and get better mileage towing. The gasser will likely be at or slightly under 10 mpg towing, that would be another huge 'con' for me. Our Ram dealer said several have purchased 6.4 Rams and then later went back to the Cummins for towing. The power and fuel mileage is just not there. Once you have towed with the diesel you likely will not be happy with the gas engine.
