Curt Sending The Wrong Message?

They Use a F150 SuperCrew and a Montana to demonstrate how to properly hitch a trailer.

The instructions are good...

Not so sure about the message they are sending though. That fiver probably has 2500 lbs plus pin weight.

Thoughts?

I don't raise mine, less weight on the pin, the easier to pull out from under if high hitched.

Next time you raise it 1/2" off the ground, see how far you can move the feet back and forth likely more than an inch.

Right. In the video they showed activating the trailer brakes manually in the cab of the truck, not pulling the breakaway switch. Later they showed plugging in the 7 pin. Probably just an editing thing, but someone new at trailering following the steps exactly as they were shown might get a little frustrated.

    Pull the breakaway switch.

  • Maybe they heard a salesman say, "you can tow that with a half-ton pickup."
