Just another NY, city-slicker, wanabe wordsmith. I'm tired of pure technique with no substance or reality. And let's get this straight: the Loneliest Highway in America is Highway 50 across Nevada. No other route compares.
Many of us have done both the Dalton and the Dempster, Jeanie and I in 2003. But, there are other options along the way that make both look pretty tame. One is the available 'old road' sections that we took. Another is the road to McCarthy. When you drive over a former railroad grade and find some ties with spikes still sticking out protruding from the road; that's remote.
2 sections of the Dempster on June 10th, 2003: Not a whole lot of traffic.
