I would like to join this conversation with a few questions. Like the OP my tire options for my travel trailer are 14" which doesn't leave a lot of choices. I have the MAXXIS M8008 ST215/75/R14 and the Khumo Radial 857 185/R14C.
Question 1 - WITHOUT buying new rims, will either of these sizes replace the original ST tire that is 205/75/R14?
Question 2 - These are my steel rims which are on a lot of Keystone TT's... http://www.etrailer.com/Tires-and-Wheels/Taskmaster/TTW460545SM1.html They are rated at 1870 pounds capacity and are 14x6. I don't see a PSI rating for them. Could these rims actually fail if I use the higher PSI rated Khumo tire?
I hope these questions and subsequent replies will help others in the same situation as the OP and myself who have to deal with 14" tires.
