Darn scissors stairs!

Having a basement and rear entry makes for a tall staircase. The ever graceful husband slipped on his way out of the camper on Saturday (in our driveway, he was just doing basic cleanup) and luckily is OK, just twisted and swollen ankle. Could have been worse, much worse. I can't tell you how many times I've wobbled down those stairs myself.

Just a rant as much as anything.
  • PS: For at home, it might be worth building a small elevated deck for camper access....you do tend to go in and out a lot carrying all the gear......so at home is the most likely place to have an accident. Build yourself a loading dock :)
  • Side door....no more scissor stairs. OK, not practical to change campers for the stairs I guess. But I'd do something like many of the others here do to avoid the scissors. A single flip step on the bumper (if you camper has one) and something sticking out of the hitch and/or a step stool for the ground.

    Hope th DH recovers quickly.
  • I have installed the larger handle like you see on trailers on mine and it has made entering and exiting mine much easier and safer. I have had both knees replaced and it has really helped me. My Lance has a step bumper on it and I still installed one on it. My Tracker TC had the scissor steps and it was dangerous for me..Good luck..
