Westend, the trailer was designed to work with mostly 12 VDC so solar system is very easy as far as electrical design goes. However, mounting solar panels on the roof is another matter. I wanted to take time to design it properly, not just hanging a couple ugly panels on top.Ugly panels, hee, hee. Eye of the beholder thing going on there.
One of the more elegant ways of mounting modules, IMO, is to use a rack system. A user can allow for a small airspace beneath modules to keep them cool and allow for tilting in a variety of ways. One can mount racks into structural components towards the sidewalls, eliminating installation toward the middle of the roof where water may pool.
I have no doubt that you will come up with a proper and well executed design for solar panel installation.
