Follow with a 'light' coating of dielectric (silicone) grease to prevent corrosion. If the problem continues with your 7 pin plug, replace it. Cheap and easy. I carry an extra one with me because the casing can split easily.
Thanks for explaning when you would use dielectric grease. Things seem to be working well now.
