well, i also own a 2007 Avy with the 5.3, 3.73 rear end ratio and factory tow package.
i tow a 25' HTT that weighs a little over 5000lbs. loaded for camping.
personally, i would never tow your trailer with mine.
did you damage it by towing that trailer? can't say but without better info on the Avy's payload(which isn't in the owner's manual) and the TT, can't say if you were pushing the limits.
you haven't seemed to weigh either on the scales.
what's the CCC of the TT or its GVWR? where did you get the "dry" weight number of the trailer? from the UVW factory weight sticker or from a brochure or website?
i'm guessing that it's not the actual weight when it left the factory. it could be 500lbs. more.
