- MitchF150Explorer IIIGrandpa had Fords for as long as I can remember. Mostly Galaxies from the early 60's thru the early 80's. He only kept them for about 5 years before getting the next new model. I ended up with his 71 LTD when I was 16 years old! :)
Other Grandpa was a Chevy guy. He owned a nursery in So Cal back in the day, so had Chevy/GMC trucks for as long as I can remember.. Wish I could have gotten his 57 Bel-Air.. He traded it for a 65 Impala and then got a 73 Caprice.
Dad had a lot of Fords too. 60 Falcon, 66 Fairlane, 71 F250, 89 Bronco, 09 F150, 09 Explorer, 14 Escape. He's had Chevy, Oldsmobile, Dodge, Jeep vehicles too.. He still has the 71 F250, but his main tow rig is the 05 Dodge Ram 3500 Dually.
I've had more Fords than any other make myself... :)
Brand loyalty is a very serious thing, so don't mess with it! :)
Mitch - GWolfeExplorerDad had several Fords while I was growing up. I have fond memories of a western state tour we did one summer in a late 60s Ford Country Squire station wagon with a little trailer he built to haul all of our stuff, it had a built in kitchen and everything. Dads last Ford product was a late 70s or early 80s Mercury Zephyr, we called it the "trip 4", 4 door, 4 cylinder, 4 speed stick, that car was not the greatest. Ah good times.
- TravlingmanExplorer IIDad bought a new Chevy every 3-4 years, usually a station wagon. He bought mom a new Chevy car every 3-4 years. I remember her last 2 were a Caprice and then a Monte Carlo.
- blt2skiModeratorMaternal grandfather had a dealer....ooops....steelership in seattle up to and just after the 29 crash......met my grandmother that way, sold her a car, she kept coming in to get it repaired......
He always had the suicide door Continentals. Bought a different one every 9-12 months or so. Had a friend that still had a place in Bremerton. He would get a nice one in, grandpa headed over, came back with a new one to him any how. Drove her crazy.......
Dad had a 66 Great Mountain Climber while I was in Elementry into jr high. Had to walk to elementry. Jr high was too far, so they bused me for a bit, new school built. 1 mile all uphill!
Mom had a VW bug....gutless 62 wonder was it! than a toyota, then a string of nissans with step dad, Final car was a 280zx! Wish she was still around....

Cute. I like it. :)
We had a Ford station wagon and a Chevy pickup in the driveway for as far back as I can remember. I learned to drive in the '64 Galaxie (I think) wagon. The 352 4-bbl FE engine drug that thing around for 200,000 miles.
The pickup was a company truck and dad always picked a Chevy. I wish some of them were in my driveway now. Had an El Camino and a string of regular cab short bed C-10's with 327/350 engines after that.
When he retired he bought a Ford truck. Go figure. But then that '83 F-100 is still with us. It was my son's ride until the engine wore to a point it wasn't worth replacing. One of these days we'll have the time to go through it again...

My dad had a 65 Mercury Station wagon, it was HUGE, plenty of rear legroom, even when I was 6' tall. In 1978 dad bought a Ford Fairmont, same as the Zepher, but his was the larger 6 cylinder and auto 3 speed. Probably had a 2.92 rear axle, and was fairly gutless, but much more power than the 4 cylinder version. No A/C. Not much rear legroom either, but better mileage than the Merc with it's 390" V8!
I bought a 12 year old 1975 F-350 supercab, and kept it 8 years. My sister just sold it - with well over 350,000 miles on it! I rebuilt the engine at 290,000 miles on it.
My brother bought a 65 Ford wagon with a 352" V8 to push start his dragster! It was a lot of fun to camp in the pit area of the Bowling Green campground and race track!
Great memories!
Fred. - atreisExplorerMom owned a Toyota and later a Honda. Dad wasn't around.

Nice. I forgot - I did have a '95 F150. It was a great truck. My brother and I bought it together to have something to tow with in the family. It was 4WD and indestructible. Just a basic regular cab, bottom of the line XL but it was really good to us. We sold it to a guy who was going to restore it. We had put new body panels on it and he was going to paint it. Never heard from him, but I hope he did. - Heavy_Metal_DocExplorerBeing broke / cheap, Dad went through a lot of used cars over the years, but there where plenty of Fords - especially in the 80's when everyone dumped the old mid-70's LTD's / T-Birds and such for little gas-misers - you could get a great full sized sedan with lots of life left in it for 500 bucks at the auction. I love those old cars and miss 'em. I kinda miss the old 77 Grenada Coupe with a 302 in it - fun little car! Too bad it was my first ever "left me walking" experience....both my Dodge and Chevy pickups at least made it home when trouble arose.
I never had any brand loyalty, or even much preference, 'till I had been wrenching on stuff to make my living for some years. Now, sorry to say, but you will not find the Blue Oval in my driveway unless it's given to me for free. - mboppExplorerDad always had a pickup but wasn't loyal to any brand. Dodge, Ford, GMC, a few Chevy's, another Ford, a couple of Rams, and finally his Toyota.
With 5 kids mom's car was a 3-seat, full size wagon, mostly Pontiacs.
