folks I know with tunes mileage if they go by hand calculating doesn't change enough to be noticeable. However, virtually all tunes will have the onboard fuel economy reading much higher than it really is. Not sure why, but the onboard system assumes stock tune and reads things like pressure, pulse width etc. to calculate mileage.
Friends with tunes reading the onboard mileage claim big improvements till I tell them to actually hand calculate mileage. then the dissapointment sets in.
BTW on our 2015 duramax depending on how I drive, unloaded on a 800+ mile trip between portland and central montana, highway overall mileage has varied between as low as 16 mpg and as high as 25mpg on the SAME exact route averaged over the 800 miles. And I've got 10 trips like this on the 15 to compare.
BTW, the 15 gets a consistent at least 2mpg better than my 04 lower emission, no DEF truck got on the same route. I never broke into the 19's on the 04 and can consistently do it on the 15.
All depends on how you drive. speed is either a killer or a godsend, depending on your attitude and what you want. Quick trip or mileage.
