Love my 3/4T Duramax. It drives, hauls, and tows like a charm. I have heard pre-DEF diesel drivers tell about their mileage into low 20's when not towing. I get 15-16mpg and 11mpg when towing. A friend suggested I research "engine chips" in quest for better mileage but know nothing about them. Would such a device, if it exists, by-pass emissions system which I'm sure would get me into hot water with State Emissions Control?
Anyway, would like info here that would lead to me getting better diesel mileage on an otherwise excellent vehicle.
Pretty much what I got on my pre-DEF LBZ. Highway was usually 17-18 and towing the same rig with either truck averaged 11MPG. There are others on here that say the new emissions stuff actually helps mileage. Don't know and don't care. If you calculate the mileage versus the difference in fuel used I don't think it is much more in fuel costs.
