Actually synthetic oil is best for those who live in extremely cold climates as well due to its better flow rate at low temperatures, and at extremely hot climates(or high engine oil temps) due to its ability to withstand higher temperatures without breaking down. For normal climates where the truck's engine oil will quickly get up to and stay at around 200-203F, synthetic oil will not serve any benefit if the oil is changed regularly.
