Have an 04 2500hd 4x4 ex cab sb with 6.0 gasser.I tow a toyhauler and fully loaded its around 7300 pounds the bed is also loaded too with another 1k.
It tows trailer fine but mpg does suffer some if i keep at 60 it will be about 9mpg avg.I also have an 8.5 lance camper i use in summer for river trips towing a 20.5 ft boat.I will get 10 mpg if i keep 57-60 once i hit past 60 the mpg will drop fast at 65 its 8mpg.
If i had a diesel it would probably made me broke once warranty was up any repair would be a financial hot big time for me.yes they tow better and get better mpg towing but repairs after warranties are not cheap.
