Perception is everything..
To some.. a 5500 lb loaded travel trailer is a monster... to others its a tiny little trailer just above a tent.
If you are considering any half ton then you don't need a diesel.. thats from a practical standpoint. If you don't need 2500 lb plus payload (not towing a big camper, as in 8,000 lb plus trailer) then I wouldn't buy one.
If you WANT a diesel and you have the ability to afford one then do what you want.
me personally, I have no need, at all for any HD truck right now. My use is only light duty in nature. I want another TT and I will match the correct TT to my chosen Vehicle, I want a Toyota Tundra. I love they way they look, the way they drive, I have wanted one since 2007 when the new body style came out.
I have my DW and myself and my two sons. Just carrying my family in the vehicle I have about 600 lbs of humans. The Tundra I like (2wd SR5) has around 1400 lbs of payload. After my family (going to say 650 lbs once we are in the truck with stuff in the cab, etc) I will have about 750 lbs of available payload.
That is NO BIG DEAL.. because I know the limits and will match the trailer to fit those parameters.
Thanks!
Jeremiah
