Diesel life span

I am thinking of purchasing a one ton deisel dually. Currently I have a 250 gasser. Can any of you senior members that have been towing for years with a deisel tell me how many miles I can expect out of a deisel if follow factory maintenance schedule. Not asking any particular brand, just the engine expectancy. Trying to justify the cost!

    My experience: the motor lasts forever...Stuff on the truck itself starts falling apart and failing long before the diesel does.
    i.e. power windows, seats, etc.

    I have had 6 of them ., I always expect 3 or 4 hundred thousand miles before taking it apart . What will go is the same on gas engines , alternators , starters , transmixers , maybe an injector or two .
