Diesel Spill

I spilled a little diesel fuel in my truck bed which has a spray in bed liner. My question is what do you use to remove the diesel odor?
  • awesome at the dollar store really removes diesel off our inbed fuel tank. Not sure about smell.

  • I have heard than Coca-Cola will get rid of diesel odor from clothing and such. Is there any truth to that.
  • Go to your local plumbing supply house. They sell a spray that is used by your oil delivery company that does just what you need. You could even go to the supply hose if you use another source of heat. I doubt if Home Depott or lowes has it.
  • Alredy mentioned, Simple Green, spray 9, or even dish soap will get rid of it. Thanks to the bed liner it will not soak into the bed liner itself, but the coating is still here.
  • I use straight simple green, let it soak for a while, scrub it a little if you can get to it,and hose it out. Did this yesterday, sprayed simple green on the in-bed fuel tank and between the tank and front of the bed because a lot of leaves had acumulated there since last year. Then drove to a car wash that had a outside power sprayer, turned the soap on and hosed it all out. Then a little plain water to finish it. Now there's no more leaves and the diesel is gone.

  • Maybe putting a small pile of kitty litter over the spill would absorb it. Obviously that would only work while the truck is sitting not moving. Parking it with the bed in the sun and the absorbant over the spill area might speed up the process. If it rains you'll have kitty litter mush in the bed.
