The Titans (and other Nissan trucks) have always been good trucks, but they're burdened with some quirky styling--like a funky looking tailgate. Nissan in the meantime put their styling and engineering talents on their cars and some SUVs. They've essentially ignored engineering on their trucks.
The new generation truck appears to be a nice looking truck. My question is whether their mechanics are going to be modernized?
The diesel engine was originally a partnership with Toyota, and Cummins spent $ hundreds of millions on engineering, tooling and people to build it. Then Toyota pulled out of the partnership. I would think Cummins has offered Nissan a deal they couldn't refuse--but they've waited for the new truck to bring it to market. I just hope the truck has a really heavy duty chassis to use 550 ft. lbs. of torque--about the same as my 7.3 had originally.
It's about time Nissan put their attentions to the really profitable truck segment of the retail market. They've really blown profits in recent years by making autos their main priority.
