    K&N fanboys should read this!

It wouldn't matter; if you followed the epic K&N thread, in well over 100 posts no one's mind changed.

Those that use & love them, love them, those that don't, don't.
  • Been telling folks this for years. Gasoline engines are controlled by choking the air flow so reasonable air filter restrictions are only an issue at wide open throttle.
  • Heh, how true. I had one on my F-150 but came to see the light....heh.

  • 48k on my latest air filter. Still runs like a scalded racing turtle!
  • I just changed the AF in our car for the first time and found the cabin filter was dirtier than the eng AF!
  • On a carb'd engine the clogged air filter would cause a lot more vacuum and pull a lot more fuel. A modern fuel injected engine has sensors to read how much air goes in so it knows how much fuel to add to get the mix right.
  • Only thing affected is ultimate horsepower. So you reduce your "Full-Power" rating, but that's it. The injection system will work to ensure you have the proper fuel mixture given the requested power and the amount of air coming through.
  • Yeah, I'd read about this a couple years ago. The fuel injection systems change things around a bit.
  • As a K&N filter user, I am not surprised. This was my experience also. Freer flow more acceleration no change in mpg.
